Update: due to opt-in email issues, it hasn’t been practical to email all paid-up Smeato supporters about the latest on the Big Night Oot. Read about it here.
Over 1,400 pints are paid for and metaphorically lined up, on the bar at the Glasgow Airport Holiday Inn, with John Smeaton’s name on them.
Binge, What Binge?
In Government bunkers in Glasgow, Edinburgh and London, soulless bureaucrats have only one name on their lips. They point at flipcharts and draw circles around the name. And, at the highest levels, they feel they must make pronouncements. About heroism, about honour, about drinking 1,000 pints in a single binge. Our very own Justice Minister, no less, Kenny ‘Madd Dogg’ MacCaskill was moved to utter the following to the Daily Record:
A thousand pints waiting behind the bar of the airport hotel for him may not accord with the Executive’s policy on responsible drinking, but God bless John Smeaton.
Are you still mad for more pints for The Man?
All funds will go to John and I am happy to submit my Paypal logs for scrutiny by an accountant. The button below will donate £3 via Paypal to get one in for John.

John,
I heard about what you did on that terrible day and I now have seen you on CNN Christmas Day and the humble way you spoke touched my family. Whether or not you see yourself as a hero it was something that is unexplained that drew you toward danger and that is courage. Courage is inside and on this Christmas Day I give you prayer that you will be you and you seem to have that covered. Pint up to you buddy from the US. Take care of youself. Blessed Christmas to you and your family from mine

John, after your comments in the sun the other day Ground Zero. You said that you felt reareally humbled and not that brave compared to those that died that day. Look at this way instead, if you hadn’t taken these guys on then who knows how many would have died / Do not bellitle your amazing act of bravery that day. 9/11 was horrendous but your actions saved hundreds of lives for which we are all immmensely grateful !! All the very best John.
